Boris Johnson meets US Secretary of State and Dominic Raab talks India at G7 meeting

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived at Number 10 Downing Street on Tuesday (May 4) for a meeting with Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Blinken is in London for a G7 foreign ministers’ meeting designed to lay the groundwork for a leaders’ summit in June.

As the two countries forge a fresh relationship following the departure of Donald Trump from the White House, Mr Blinken said on Monday that the US has “no closer ally, no closer partner” than the UK.

Meanwhile, at the G7 meeting itself,  Dominic Raab said the meeting of G7 foreign ministers was a “good opportunity” to engage with India, where coronavirus cases have surpassed 20 million.

With 3.45 million active cases, India recorded 357,229 new infections over the last 24 hours, while deaths rose by 3,449 to 222,408, health ministry data showed.
