NHS launches pop-up clinics in youth hotspots

Vaccines will be rolled out in pop-up clinics across England at Primark, the Tate Modern and the Open Championship this weekend as part of an NHS “grab a jab” initiative.

The mass inoculation drive is aimed at boosting vaccine uptake among the young ahead of Freedom Day on July 19, when the majority of coronavirus restrictions are set to be lifted.

It comes as new figures reveal that more than a third of young adults in England have not had a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

Some 64 per cent of people aged 18 to 29 had received a first dose as of July 11, according to estimates from NHS England, meaning 36 per cent are likely to be unvaccinated.

In the heart of London, jabs will be offered to visitors at the Tate Modern on Friday evening, with a DJ booked to keep the crowd entertained while they wait.

So-called “vaccine caddies” will offer doses to eligible golfers, staff and the 30,000 expected visitors at the Open Championship golf tournament in Sandwich, Kent.
