Sajid Javid tests positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating at home

Mr Javid urged remaining members of the public who have not yet had a coronavirus vaccine to do so, and asked others who had come into contact with suspected cases to get tested.

He said: “I was feeling a bit groggy last night, so I took a lateral flow test this morning and it has come out positive. I’m now self-isolating at home with my family until I get the results of a PCR test. I’m grateful that I have had two jabs of the vaccine and so far, my symptoms are mild.”

He finished the Twitter video by thanking NHS staff and everyone involved with the vaccination campaign.

Numerous other MPs have contracted Covid-19 over the past year, including Boris Johnson and former Health Secretary Matt Hancock in March 2020.

The Prime Minister was admitted to St Thomas’ Hospital in London last April when he was suffering from the virus, and afterwards praised the NHS nurses who had treated him during his illness.
